Mission Statement

About The University of North Alabama is a comprehensive regional state university offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs, serving residential and commuting students. It occupies a beautiful historic site that exceeds 100 acres. UNA shares the broad purpose of all institutions of higher learning for the discovery, preservation, and transmission of knowledge through teaching, research, and public service. More importantly, UNA is earnestly committed to ensuring that all students receive full value for their investment of personal and family resources in obtaining a top quality university education . This claim is supported by a tradition, dating back to 1830, of providing high quality that is generally associated with private colleges and universities at the lower cost of a state-assisted public institution of higher education. Every effort is made to keep students in the forefront and center of the thoughts and actions of the entire university community. As a result, students are known by name and are actively involved in the educational experience both inside and outside of traditional classes.
