Mission Statement

Welcome to the official website of the University of Arkansas at Monticello. As chancellor of UAM, I want to extend a warm welcome to each of you and tell you a little about the educational opportunities available at this institution. Now in its 95th year of service to the state and region, UAM has a unique mission and proud legacy of providing educational opportunities. Many of our students are the first in their families to attend college and to receive a degree. Others are non-traditional students who have decided to take advantage of the opportunity to change careers or complete a dream that began years ago. The faculty and staff are exploring and developing new opportunities to help you obtain a higher education. We have expanded the opportunities available to students with the merger of institutions in McGehee and Crossett. As a comprehensive system of postsecondary education in southeast Arkansas, our primary goal is to serve the needs of our constituents through teaching, research and public service. As you look through this website, I hope you will take the time to get to know us better and come to our campus for a visit. I look forward to meeting you. Best Wishes, H. Jack Lassiter Chancellor
