Want to go to a true college town in the heart of wine country? San Luis Obispo is a city in central California, located about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. With a modest population of around 40,000 residents, San Luis Obispo is a college town by every definition. Many residents live in San Luis Obispo for its beautiful climate, pleasant scenery, and lively downtown (including lots of bars and restaurants with a student vibe). The city's close relationship with the surrounding rural area allows city-dwellers to purchase locally grown food at the weekly Farmer's Market.
