Mission Statement
The Mission of Mendocino College is to: 1. Maintain a physical plant and scholarly environment that values the highest ethical and moral standards and emphasizes teaching, learning, scholarship, tolerance, creativity, critical and independent thinking, trustworthiness, fairness and social responsibility. 2. Support efforts to increase the number of students transferring to four-year colleges and universities and those who earn the Associate in Arts/Associate in Science degrees and/or certificates. 3. Create partnerships with business, industry, and governmental entities in order to generate a quality work force aimed at enhancing economic development. 4. Offer courses which will strengthen pre-collegiate basic skills. 5. Provide an atmosphere which encourages the district?s population to view higher education as a lifelong opportunity. 6. Work with other colleges and schools to become the center of higher education in the District. 7. Establish the College as a resource for study, cultural, recreational and avocational activities. 8. Be recognized as an institution which reaches out to diverse populations and makes possible the two-year experience for all constituents. 9. Maintain a curriculum and support services which are responsive to change. 10. Provide advisement, counseling and guidance to assist students to determine their aptitudes, acquire occupational information, choose their vocations, plan their programs and resolve issues that increase their chances of succeeding in college.School Characteristics
