Guide to Detroit: Nightlife & Entertainment
Detroit’s Nightlife Rocks
The Detroit area is no stranger to music and nightlife. If walking into a crowded nightclub and being greeted at the door with a blast of music sounds like a good time, then Detroit might be the perfect place for you to go to school. Detroit also offers plenty of entertainment opportunities in the fine and performing arts, including some of the most highly regarded galleries in the world and the Detroit Symphony, which regularly presents world-class performances. The Max M. Fisher Music Hall is home to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and also a performing arts complex hosting a variety of concerts including Branford Marsalis, Radiohead, and performances by Garrison Keillor.
Detroit a Sweet Spot for Music Lovers
Detroit offers a thriving nightlife to those who like to rub elbows and listen to live music. The 2500 Club on Park Street can be an excellent place to catch some eclectic live music, and Hamtramck's 7 Brothers and Artie's Locker Room are great places for drinks and conversation.
For lovers of the Blues there's the Carriage House, which hosts some of the country's best blues acts as well as local bands and jam sessions. Live music fans can also seek out entertainment at Rumor's in Royal Oak, The Village Idiot Pub on Michigan Avenue in Detroit, and the Holbrook Café in Hamtramck, which hosts The Hamtramck Blowout music festival every year.
