Guide to Los Angeles: Nightlife & Entertainment
Hip Highlights: Hit the LA Clubs
Los Angeles is sometimes referred to as the entertainment capital of the world and is full of distractions. Premier nightclubs are found here--elite watering holes where the ordinary and drab are left standing at the door. From hip indie rock to the throbbing bass of hip-hop, the live music scene in LA measures up to the best anywhere. From the Cat Club on the Sunset Strip to The Troubadour on Santa Monica Boulevard, music plays every night of the week!
Performing Arts Take Center State in LA
LA is also known for its performing arts. The Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA is an excellent venue to catch a world-class performance of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Designed by architect Frank O. Gehry, it offers a perfect example of artful architecture with its swooping steel exterior. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is the home of the Los Angeles Opera and Music Center Dance groups. If it's the stage you love, head to the Ahmanson Theatre for Broadway hits from the world-renowned Center Theater Group.
Shopping, Shopping, Shopping…
For those who think that a day spent in the spa and shopping is the right way to while away the hours, LA is a virtual Garden of Eden. The Golden Triangle formed by Santa Monica Boulevard, Wilshire Boulevard, and Canon Drive--with Rodeo Drive at the center--is home to some of the world's most elite fashion boutiques including Chanel and Tiffany's. Melrose Avenue provides twelve blocks of some of the hippest shopping on the West Coast, where the storefronts are as eye-catching as the clothes sold within.
From extravagant shopping on expensive streets to exuberant dancing in crowded clubs-- there are always cool things to do in LA.
