LA is a sports fan's paradise--the weather is beautiful almost all year long, and there are a number of professional sports franchises located there. What's more, some of the most competitive college football games in the country are waged in Los Angeles.

Cheer and Jeer LA Pro Sports Teams

The high-tech looking Staples Center, which won the Pollstar-CIC Arena of the Year award the first two years it was open, is home to the Clippers and the Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The LA Kings of the NHL also make their home in the Staples Center and please hockey fans season after season. The nearby city of Anaheim also has a hockey team: the Mighty Ducks. For baseball fans there are also two major league teams in the greater Los Angeles metro area. The Dodgers make their home in Chavez Ravine and the Angels play in Anaheim.

College Rivalries Light Up Los Angeles

For football fans, battles between college rivalries in LA are some of the best to be found anywhere. The Los Angeles Coliseum is home to the USC Trojans and was also the site of the Olympic games twice--first in 1932 and then again in 1984. However, the Rose Bowl game in nearby Pasadena is the crown jewel for college football fans. In fact, the tradition of college bowl games first started with the showdown between Stanford and the University of Michigan in 1902, a game played in Pasadena on New Year's Day that became known as the Rose Bowl game.

Sports fans who long for the crack of the bat and the roar of a packed football stadium will quickly learn that for sports viewing LA is one of the best places in the world to live.
