Situated in the stunning Rocky Mountains, Idaho offers abundant skiing, hiking, boating, mountain biking, and fishing opportunities to its many students. To the western edge of the state, tourists and residents alike enjoy the world-class white-water rafting of the Snake River basin. The state's four largest cities -- Boise, Pocatello, Nampa, and Idaho Falls -- offer students cultural and entertainment options, and Coeur d'Alene, at the northwest corner of the state, provides stunning lakes and mountain vistas.
Moscow is home to the state's main campus of the University of Idaho, founded in 1892. Pocatello-based Idaho State University and Boise State University, in the capital, are the two other major colleges and universities in the state.
