Mission Statement

The College of Arts and Sciences is dedicated to the ideals of a liberal arts education and serves as the intellectual core of the university, offering disciplinary study in over 25 undergraduate and graduate departments as well as general education courses to all undergraduate students in the areas of Fine and Performing Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Social Sciences. The faculty of the College is committed to the preservation and dissemination of fundamental knowledge and dedicated to enhancing this knowledge through creative expression, scholarly interpretation, and research. By demanding teaching excellence, the College strives to instill in all students the attributes of creative and critical thinking, effective oral and written communicative skills, and social values that embrace diversity and multiculturalism. Through the various disciplines, the College contributes to the formation of responsible citizens by providing an educational foundation upon which students build their lives and professions.
