Santa Fe, New Mexico is a 400-year old city with a contemporary spirit. Santa Fe has attracted attention as a recreational paradise (Outside magazine), an arts epicenter, a showcase of Native American and Spanish architecture, and a forward-thinking metropolis (The New York Times). Santa Fe is also the first U.S. city to be included in UNESCO's Creative Cities Network, for its folk art, crafts, and design.
A rich cultural heritage and a modern economy add up to an ideal environment for Santa Fe colleges and universities. Santa Fe, New Mexico is home to at least six colleges and universities, most of which are small, private liberal arts schools. The College of Santa Fe and The Institute of American Indian Arts both take advantage of the local arts scene, specializing in the visual arts.
