Mission Statement

The Mission of Richmond Community College is to provide quality educational opportunities and community services, to offer workforce training and retraining, and to support economic development. In support of the Mission, the College has adopted these goals: ? Design and implement educational programs and courses at the degree, diploma, and certificate levels which prepare students for current and prospective jobs; and which provide college transfer programs leading to a baccalaureate degree. ? Provide a work environment that supports employing and retaining quality faculty and staff through professional growth and development. ? Design and implement Continuing Education and literacy programs based on individual needs and interests, including Adult Basic Education, Adult High School Diploma, and General Educational Development Diploma. ? Provide student services essential to developing the potential of each student. ? Offer appropriate instructional and support services to meet the needs of a diverse student population. ? Facilitate student matriculation with local schools and colleges. ? Provide community services to support identified local educational and cultural needs. ? Enhance economic development by providing technical training for industry, business, government, and service occupations. ? Provide an effective educational environment with safe and adequate facilities, up-to-date equipment, and comprehensive administrative services. ? Assess and improve institutional effectiveness and management through a comprehensive, on-going planning evaluation system.
