Salem Colleges and Universities

If you'd like to attend college in the heart of wine country, don't rule out the Pacific Northwest. Salem, Oregon's state capital, is the second largest city in the state, behind only Portland. The trip to Portland is a quick 45-minute drive up I-5, and the beautiful Oregon coast is around an hour's drive to the west. Farmers' markets every Saturday and Wednesday give students at Salem colleges and universities the chance to sample some of the famous produce of the fertile Willamette Valley. Salem is also located in prime wine country, and weekend wine-tasting trips around the valley are popular with older students at Salem colleges and universities.

Salem is home to several well-respected colleges and universities. Willamette University is an academically competitive, small liberal arts school with a great location: right across the street from the state capitol building.
