Erie Colleges and Universities

Erie, Pennsylvania is a mid-sized city nestled on the banks of Lake Erie. The city's Presque Isle State Park, a 3200-acre natural area beside Lake Erie, provides students at Erie colleges and universities with opportunities for hiking, bicycling, swimming, and bird watching. Formerly a center for large-scale manufacturing, Erie now has a thriving tourist industry centered on Presque Isle State Park and a nearby casino. For students at Erie colleges and universities who crave the excitement of larger cities, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland are all a short trip away.

Erie colleges and universities include the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and Penn State Erie. Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is a private medical school, while Penn State Erie is a local branch of the Penn State University system. Mercyhurst College, a private Catholic liberal arts school, is also located in Erie.
